TD, a JW might argue there is a third group: the resurrected dead. All 'prospective' members of the great crowd who die before the great tribulation fall into that third group.
Anyway, you are right that the "great multitude (crowd)" that J Rutherford hailed in 1935 is gone.

it has been about 2000 years since jesus walked the earth and has been hailed as the son of god by christians .. the jews refuse to acknowledge jesus as the son of god.. the muslims recognise jesus as only a prophet .. their are billions of christians earth wide.
their are at least a billion muslims world wide.
i`m sorry i dont know how many jews their are world wide ( please add the 6 million who died in concentration camps ).

Lots of scriptures in the old and new testament defining what a scriptural generation is. The Society has chosen to completely ignore those and no longer lets God's word interpret itself on this, choosing vague and dubious secular and ad hoc definitions and fallacious 'special pleading'.
Speaking about the rebellious attitude of the nation of Israel who had came out of Egypt under Moses it says at Numbers 14:29: ‘All your registered ones, from 20 years old upward who complained (vs30) will not enter into the promised land (vs33). They will become shepherds in the wilderness forty years to answer for your acts’. Then at Numbers 32:13 it says ‘God made them wonder in the desert for forty years until all that generation that offended God came to their end.’ So, all that generation with a minimum age limit of 20 years came to its end from God’s stand point 40 years later. Jehovah held responsible for their actions all registered males of 20 years and above (Num 14:29). God referred to the full time limit of one generation as being 40 years (Num 32:13). Interestingly, God told Moses that the price of a vow made by a male person in the 40 prime years of their life, between the age of 20 to 60 was 50 shekels, the highest price (Lev 27:2-3, Deu 1:35, 39, 2:14-16, 32:5).
Moving to the Christian Greek Scriptures, Matthew chapter one lists 42 (14 + 14 + 14) generations from Abraham to Jesus (some debate over this – anywhere between 41-46 generations). “So all the generations from Abraham to David [are] fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon [are] fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ [are] fourteen generations.”- Matthew 1:17

10 years ago i stopped attending jehovah's witness meetings for good.
walked out of the kingdom hall cold turkey never to return based on injustices i observed among others and myself at the hands of elders giving out not god's counsel but personal opinions as counsel .
some of them weren't even giving out wt society counsel- just personal opinions.
What a thoughtful and encouraging post. You're absolutely spot on with everything you say. I raise my glass back to you Mr Flipper and all others who have escaped religious mental indoctrination, manipulation and falsehoods. Life indeed does get better post-JW!
if i knew then what i know now, i might never have disassociated myself.
i realize all i can do is speculate on what could have been.
however, when i consider the number of people i might have been able to help by dropping little thought-provoking seeds, i really regret having jumped to the decision to disassociate so quickly.. ive read the accounts of several people on this forum telling of how stressful it is to be in the position that i just described above.
You should never regret leaving a religious brainwashing cult. The feeling of regret your having is false and just coming from your former JW indoctrination and black-and-white world mentality (everything is 'true' or 'false') that formerly made you feel compelled to 'help' all those worldlings and people trapped in false religions, except now it's the flip side of the coin. You now feel regret because you can't anti-preach to the JW's you left behind.
Feeling you must 'help' JW's leave by staying in the organisation is as false as thinking you must become a Muslim to help Muslims escape their religion or you must become a Buddhist monk to help them see the error of Buddhist ways, or return to the religion you might have been in, eg, Catholic, before you became a JW. The only reason to stay in a religion you've mentally left might be for family reasons but not to 'save' them from their religion.

It is quite simple, intuitive, and religion is not needed.
The basis of all morality is compassion, sympathy, empathy for the suffering of others. We all know that it could easily just be us who are suffering as someone else. Seeing the terrible suffering of others we love feels as if we ourselves are suffering. But we do not limit our compassion and empathy to just our immediate families but for the entire human family.
Morality is simply avoiding all speech and action that causes harm and suffering to others.
